Turn any photo into a one-of-a-kind Pastel-style work of art.
Pastel style works have the soft look of having been drawn with colored chalk, conte crayon, and oil pastels. Variations are possible by choosing how vivid or muted colors should be, and how sharp to keep edges.
In the example to the right (entitled "Happy Cat"), muted colors have been used and edges are soft to provide a true pastel look. By exhibition matting the 5x7 artwork in an 11x14 frame, the owner was able to take advantage of the mat space to include the name of her cat. Considerations:
- Just about any photo can serve as the subject for a pastel drawing; however, keep in mind that the finest and smallest details may be lost due to the fact that the chalk or pastel drawing media are less precise than, say, a sharp pencil or thin brush.
- Consider if you'd like the colors to be soft or vivid.
- Pastel artwork looks best on fine art paper and then matted and framed.
